Ingredients

  • 1 package (2 ¼ teaspoon) Fleischmann’s Quick Rise Instant Yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water, warm to touch
  • 3 tablespoons neutral oil
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Fleischmann’s Baking Soda
  • Melted butter, to finish
  • Cinnamon sugar, to finish

Steps

  1. 1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment, add yeast, sugar, and water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. 2. Add oil, flour, and salt. Knead on low speed until dough becomes smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  3. 3. Shape into a ball, transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 ½ hours.
  4. 4. Divide dough into quarters and roll each quarter into a 1-inch-thick rope. Slice into bite-sized pieces.
  5. 5. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the baking soda.
  6. 6. Boil each piece of dough for 30 seconds and transfer to two lined baking sheets.
  7. 7. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  8. 8. Bake until golden and cooked throughout, about 15 minutes.
  9. 9. Brush each piece on both sides with melted butter and toss in cinnamon sugar.
  10. 10. Serve immediately.
