Heart-Shaped Cake

Ingredients

  • BakeGood’s Vanilla Bean Butter Cake
  • BakeGood’s American Buttercream Frosting
  • Red Food Colouring
  • Valentine’s Sprinkles
  • Fleischmann’s® Baking Soda
  • Fleischmann’s® Baking Powder

Steps

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F degrees.
  2. 2. Line one 8-inch square cake pan and one 8-inch round cake pan.
  3. 3. Prepare the cake batter as directed.
  4. 4. Evenly divide batter amongst the two prepared baking pans.
  5. 5. Bake until golden and the top bounces back to touch, about 30 minutes.
  6. 6. Let cool completely before removing from the pans.
  7. 7. Transfer the square cake to a large serving tray, creating a diamond shape.
  8. 8. Carefully slice the round cake in half and place each half with the square cake to create the heart.
  9. 9. Prepare buttercream frosting as directed and color with red or pink food colouring.
  10. 10. Transfer frosting to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  11. 11. Pipe small rosettes on the cake in even sizes until the entire cake is covered with frosting.
  12. 12. Finish with a generous amount of sprinkles.
  13. 13. Slice and serve!
